A Nation that Remembers | Day 5 Freedom Season Devotional

A Nation that Remembers | Day 5 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:12
"Be careful that you do not forget the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery."

Nations thrive when they remember their foundations. Forgetfulness can lead us right back into bondage. In many ways, it already has. As believers, we must help our communities remember the hand of God in our history.

I've had a few conversations recently about remembrances and the power of reflecting on them. Several times in Scripture the Lord instructed His people to observe or celebrate something "from generation to generation." Deuteronomy 6:6-7 instructs us to pass down His words to the next generations.

We are familiar with the concept of passing traditions down to our children and grandchildren. Even more important is that we pass down truth to them - the truths in God's word and the truth of our history as a nation.

May we seek out the truth of God's hand in our national history and look for ways to share those truths with our children.

Reflection: How can you help the next generation remember God's faithfulness?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help our nation remember You. Open my eyes and ears to see and hear the truth. Show me how to pass on truth to the next generation, inspiring them to pursue the restoration of one nation under God. Amen.
