Scripture: Psalm 67:5–6
May the peoples praise You, God; may all the peoples praise You. The earth has yielded its produce; God, our God, blesses us. (NASB)
In 2017, there was a worship/prayer event in Washington, D.C. called Awaken the Dawn. Fifty tents (one for each state) lined the National Mall, and for 72 hours, non-stop worship, prayer and Gospel proclamation were lifted up by thousands of musicians, singers, intercessors and other kingdom believers. Many were saved, healed and delivered during those three days.
Later, we found out that according to the Capitol Police, there was little to no crime in DC during those 72 hours. As we sang a love song to Jesus because He alone is worthy, His unmistakable and undeniable presence was heavy in the city. And life-altering and lasting fruit was harvested.
The image here was taken during one of he night watches. Between 10 PM and 7 AM, all the tents were required to go acoustic with no amplification in order to comply with local noise ordinances. While sweet worship arose from each tent, there was a holy hush across the Mall itself. There was such a peaceful Presence resting there. It was something I will never forget.
Nations that praise God experience His favor. When communities give thanks collectively, they invite blessing and renewal. May we never cease to corporately lift up a love song to Jesus and pray together for our cities, counties, states and nation. And may non-stop worship, prayer and gospel proclamation break out from being an occasional event and become the norm on our streets and in our communities.
Reflection: How can you encourage a spirit of thankfulness in your family or neighborhood? How can you inspire others to praise God for His goodness?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, let my home and this land be filled with praise. Teach me to model a heart of gratitude for who You are and all You have done. As we praise You for Your faithfulness and Your goodness, we anticipate Your blessing on us. Not because we deserve it, but because that is who you are. Amen.
