Anchored in the Word | Day 13 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.. (NASB)

Freedom without guidance leads to chaos. We see this played out in our streets all too often. Our Constitution guarantees us the freedom to participate in a “peaceful protest.” But when guidance is either not clearly given or it is ignored altogether, chaos ensues, and a peaceful gathering can quickly turn into a very dangerous riot where looting and violence take over until order is restored.

When we reflect on Psalm 119:105, we find a fitting reminder that as we seek His guidance through His Word, it becomes a light set before us so we can see where we are going. Dark days and situations are part of our life here on earth, but God’s promises are true and His presence is real. We can confidently lean into His Word for direction. It is ever-present, ever-true and ever-able to guide our path.

Reflection: Are you regularly seeking God’s direction through His Word? What is a favorite verse or passage that brings you comfort, guidance or hope on a regular basis?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to delight in Your Word. Give me a hunger and thirst that can only be satisfied by the truths and guidance of Your Word. Amen.
