Fear Not | Day 18 Freedom Season Devotional

Fear Not | Day 18 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: Isaiah 41:10
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will also help you, I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand. (NASB)

So many things we wrestle with on a daily basis are actually rooted in fear. Anxiety, stress, indecision, a drive to control people and situations, even some relationship issues can all be traced back to an underlying fear. Fear of lack, fear of making the wrong decision, fear of loss, fear of being alone - all rooted in fear.

Fear is a sneaky little bugger as it masquerades around as other things. But it is significant enough that some variation of the words “do not fear” appears in Scripture 365 times. When God says something 365 times, it’s important to take notice.

The promise in Isaiah 41:10 reminds us not only that we should not fear, but that we can trust Him. The absence of fear is a fruit of walking in His perfect love. 1 John 4:18 says “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear.”

The opposite of fear is trust. When we truly trust God and His Word, we can walk in freedom from fear, knowing that He is our God, He will strengthen us; He will uphold us with His righteous right hand. His word will not return void.

When fear comes knocking, answer the door with the Word of God. Remind the enemy, and yourself, that the God of the universe has you in the palm of His hand and that nothing can touch you there.

Reflection: What fear do you need to surrender to God today? Ask Him to show you if there is any hidden fear in your heart that needs to be surrendered to Him.

Prayer: Father, I give You my fear. Show me if I am carrying any fear that might be disguised as something else. I trust You and Your Word that You are with me and will strengthen me. Thank You for Your promise to help me and uphold me with your righteous right hand. I love You. Amen.
