Free Indeed | Day 40 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: John 8:35-36
Now the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free. (NASB)

As I pondered and prayed about which scripture to use for the final day of this devotional series, I came across John 8:35-36. I felt a catch in my throat and a deep response in my spirit to the Holy Spirit’s voice. “This one,” He whispered.

As I write this, today is July 4, 2025. There has been a renewed sense of hope rising for America’s future in recent months. You can feel it in the air. There is still a spiritual battle we are in, but there has been a definite shift. Restoration and renewal are coming. They have, in fact, already started. Not just in our nation, but in the earth.

It is pouring down rain outside. No thunder or lightning or strong winds - just a steady rain. The kind that cools the air, fills the dry places and refreshes both the land and the soul. This is my favorite kind of day. A soaking and steady rain like this reminds me to slow down for a bit and reflect. Today I’m reflecting on the goodness of my God - the God who saves, delivers and heals. The God who restores lives and nations. The God whose word is eternal and true. The God who created us one and all, to live in true liberty.

Throughout this series, we have examined various aspects of liberty - unity, truth, courage, gratitude. Today we land on the fundamental reason for which Jesus came to make us free. It is for sonship. His heart is for us to live freely, give freely, and love one another freely. He desires for us to live as sons and daughters of His Kingdom and to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth. As we recognize our identity as agents of change in the earth, we will take our positions on the seven mountains of society (education, economy, media, arts & entertainment, government, family and religion). Here is where we will honor Him, continually inviting Him to lead, heal and restore our nation. Here is where we will display the glory of His kingdom and show others what it truly means to be free indeed.

Reflection: Which mountain(s) do you believe you are called to as an influencer? Your role could be as an active participant, an intercessor, someone who funds kingdom advances in that area, or any other way God leads you to influence a specific mountain of society.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, bless Your name. Thank You for creating me to live in such a time as this.  Open my eyes to see the kingdom assignment(s) that are part of Your plans and purposes for my life. I submit to Your leading and will readily take my place wherever You lead to help further Your kingdom in my nation and in the earth. From sea to shining sea, may Your grace be sufficient to carry our nation back to You and to restore our divine assignment to be a light to the nations. Amen.
