Freedom Through Truth | Day 37 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: John 8:32
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (NASB)

Freedom begins with truth - God’s truth. Read that again. In today’s culture, there is much emphasis on “my truth” or “your truth.” The idea behind this is that truth is relative to the individual. What is true for one may not be true for another. This is a lie. Truth is not relative. Truth is truth, plain and simple. And like any other lie, it leads people into bondage and away from freedom.

In John 14:6, Jesus tells Thomas,  “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.” One of the most glorious aspects of the Gospel is its simplicity. There is only one way to the Father, and that is through His son, Jesus. Period. The only way our nation finds her way back to being one nation under God is through Jesus.

Lies keep people in bondage, but the truth of the Gospel of Jesus brings freedom to hearts and nations. And in that freedom is a glorious place to be.

Reflection: What lie(s) have you believed that need the light of God’s truth to shine on and bring you into freedom?

Prayer: Jesus, please reveal to me any lies that I have believed - areas that need Your truth to set me free. I surrender them to You now. Show me Your truth in these matters so that I can walk in true liberty. Free me from deception and let my life be a light to others to show them the way to Your truth that sets them free. Amen.
