God Goes Before You | Day 21 Freedom Season Devotional

God Goes Before You | Day 21 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:8
And the Lord is the One who is going ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not desert you or abandon you. Do not fear and do not be dismayed.” (NASB)

When Moses spoke these words to Israel, he was in his final days. The Lord had already told him that he would not be entering into the promised land. He was giving final instructions to the next generation before they stepped up and in to receive their inheritance - the land that God had made covenant with Abraham for.

For the child of God, there is no safer place to be than directly behind our Father who is leading the way before us. His promise to never leave or abandon us is a source of great comfort, especially when we are facing unknown territory.

What we see currently happening in our nation and His church is unknown territory. It can be said of both that we have never walked this way before. But we can be confident that wherever He is leading us, He is already there. We do not walk alone.

The same is true whenever He leads you into new  territory.  It may be unfamiliar and perhaps even cause you to feel uncertain. Take courage! He goes before you!

Reflection: What upcoming situation are you trusting God to lead you through?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for going before me. Thank You for Your promise to never leave or abandon me. Teach me to stay in step with You, not jumping out in front or being distracted by rabbit trails off to the side. I trust You with what’s ahead. I’m following You. Amen.
