Liberty Through the Spirit | Day 9 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is , there is liberty. (NKJV)
True liberty is not found in laws alone but in the presence of God’s Spirit. We see this in Mark 3:1-6 as Jesus heals a man’s withered hand on the Sabbath. The religious law made it a sin to do any “work” on the Sabbath. The Pharisees considered healing someone to be “work” and subsequently a violation of the law - a sin.
But Jesus, who knew no sin, made a clear statement by His example that the spirit of the law is weightier than the letter of the law. Would it have been considered more righteous to let the man suffer another day until the Sabbath had passed before setting him free from his condition? To the Pharisees, perhaps. But to Jesus, clearly, no.
When we walk in true liberty, led by the Holy Spirit, we not only experience the benefits of that liberty, but we become conduits of His Presence to release freedom from bondage to those around us.
Reflection: What area of your life needs a renewed submission to the Holy Spirit and restored liberty?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, breathe fresh liberty into my heart, spirit and life. Where You dwell, let liberty flourish. And since You dwell inside me, let liberty be the trademark of my walk with You. In the name o Jesus, amen.
