Remember to Be Grateful | day 6 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:18
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

Gratitude is a safeguard against entitlement. Read that again. When we intentionally give thanks, we resist the urge to take blessings for granted.

When times are tough, it's easy to focus on what seems to be missing in our present situation. It's equally easy to make the leap right into being resentful our needs are not being met how or when we feel they should be.

But in choosing to be grateful for what we do have, we shift the atmosphere. Entitlement then yields to thankfulness, which gives way to hope and joy. It isn't always easy, but the more we do it, the more natural it becomes.

Make gratitude a daily discipline.

Reflection: What are three freedoms you're grateful for today?

Prayer: Thank You, Father, for the freedoms I enjoy. Help me to be mindful of Your provision and presence even in the seemingly small things, and to cultivate gratitude in all things. Amen.
