Remembering God's Benefits | Day 31 Freedom Season Devotional

Scripture: Psalm 103:2
Bless the Lord, my soul, and do not forget any of His benefits. (NASB)

Over the course of the past few years as I have walked through a healing journey, this passage in Psalm 103:1-5 has become an integral part of ministering to my spirit and reminding myself of the goodness of God. Remembering and acknowledging the things He has already done is a powerful tool to reinforce our faith in Him and remind us to trust Him for the current situation.

In this passage, David is commanding his spirit first to bless the Lord and second to remember what He has already done. Verses 3-5 list some of these benefits:

Who pardons all your guilt, Who heals all your diseases; Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with favor and compassion; Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

I don’t know about you, but I find great peace and hope in this. I see in these verses the promises of forgiveness, healing, redemption, favor, blessing, and restored youth. Hallelujah!

Sometimes we forget what God has done. Let’s make it a habit to recall His blessings, big and small, and give Him thanks and glory.

Reflection: List five blessings God has given you recently.

Prayer: Thank You, Father, for the big and small ways You show Your love for me every day. I will not forget Your goodness. Open my eyes to see and recognize more of Your blessings and benefits today. Teach me to find them in unexpected places. I love You. Amen.
