The Truth That Sets Us Free | Day 11 Freedom Season Devotional

 Scripture: John 8:32
“ .. and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.(NASB)

Freedom is built on a foundation of truth. In the absence of truth, lies and innuendos provide a shaky foundation that will crumble under the weight of critical thinking and common sense. The “freedom” that is built on this type of shaky foundation isn’t really freedom at all, but rather bondage masquerading as liberty. A false sense of security lulls us into a slumber from which we must awaken and see the truth in the light of day.

This is very much what is happening in our nation right now, and has been for some time. It is also happening in the church. As more and more deep swampy things are exposed, it can feel overwhelming to see all the sludgy mess that has been lurking below the surface and the swamp creatures that have made the dark murkiness their playground.

But take heart! As the light of truth is released into the dark places and the ugliness is brought into the light of day, it can finally be dealt with and put away for good. It may be unpleasant for a while, but it is necessary and will ultimately lead to a glorious restoration of His original intents and purposes, both for His ekklesia and for this nation.

God's Word is the ultimate truth. Let it anchor you as our culture shifts.

Reflection: What truth from God’s Word will you cling to today?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, anchor me in Your truth. Your name is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and are safe (Proverbs 18:10). Teach me today to lean into the truth in Your word and set me free from any lies I have been believing. In Jesus’ name, amen.
